CARLA B. GUTTMANN
Carla B. Guttmann is an Canadian director and writer whose films have premiered at Toronto film festival (TIFF), Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Sacremento, Boulder film festival amongst several others. She is a member of the German Directors Guild (BVR) and now resides between Berlin and Stockholm. Her focus as a director is on developing layered and pioneering roles for women.

She has directed and written eight films including the award winning dance film “The Double Woman” which is now streamed on Herflix and the documentary “Making Heart of Fire” which was broadcast on the Bayerischen Rundfunk on German television. Her films have given her a chance to attend A-list festivals around the world, pitch her scripts to top producers at markets and find vital partners for her upcoming feature film “The Bra.”

In 2017, Ms. Guttmann began her coaching company A-LIST FESTIVAL COACH precisely to share her knowledge with actors about navigating A-list festivals and markets. Her clients have felt much greater empowerment while attending Berlinale, Cannes, TIFF, Locarno, and Gothenburg film festivals, met new international directors who invited them to auditions, found development producers to back their projects, and enabled them to sign with first, second, and third agencies outside their home country.

Her most recent success story includes an actor who was initially rejected at Cannes on an actor’s accreditation, who then attended Cannes through the Marché du Film, signed with a UK agency within 48 hours, had six scripts sent to him by an American screenwriter, and obtained a one on one meeting with the Netflix producer of the Oscar winning “All is quiet on the western front” after attending her Cannes Bootcamp.
