Shauna MacDonald

Canadian Actress (producer/director) SHAUNA MACDONALD has worked for over 20 years in television and film as an actress, sharing screen time with Sir Ben Kingsley, Jeff Goldblum, Famke Janssen, Katie Holmes, Richard Schiff, Billy Zane and James Franco. Credits include HEMLOCK GROVE, TRAILER PARK BOYS, THE KENNEDYS, REIGN, SAINT RALPH, SAW VI, ROGUE, 11/22/63, BACKSTABBING FOR BEGINNERS, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE, and POLARIOD. She recently filmed ABSENCE, the much anticipated debut short film of Arshile Egoyan, son of acclaimed Canadian director Atom Egoyan.

Shauna produced her first short, STORMCLOUD, in 2012. She then produced and co-directed her first feature film, TRU LOVE. After screening at over 75 international film festivals, TRU LOVE took home 15 awards, including Best Feature Film Audience Award and the Emerging Canadian Artist Award at Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, as well as a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Song and an ACTRA Award nomination for lead actress Kate Trotter. In 2014, TRU LOVE was acquired by NETFLIX USA and NETFLIX Australia for two years of distribution on their network. It received a theatrical release in Canada in January 2015, as well as worldwide distribution.

Shauna is also an accomplished Voice Performer and was the notorious Promo Girl on CBC Radio 1. Some of her commercial voice clients include T-Fal, Lysol, Trebhome, The Bay, McDonald’s, Volkswagen, OLG and Marshall’s. She has narrated five seasons of The Mighty Cruise Ships for Bell Media and has performed in several CBC Radio plays.

Since 2014, Shauna has been actively coaching actors for both on-camera and voice. She loves to help performers find their voice, uncover the truth behind the text and create unique and powerful interpretations.

Shauna holds a BA with Honours in Russian and Slavic Studies from McGill University and resides in Toronto with Apollo and Violet, her very dramatic whippets.
