I am a versatile actor with over twenty years' experience working in a range of mediums and with great attention to detail. I am sensitive to the needs of the actor and am approachable, patient and playful.
I also work as an Acting Coach and Actor Trainer and am familiar with the requirements of the role of a reader, and how I can best facilitate you in your performance to ensure you stay front-and-centre and are seen at your best.
I do not want you to have to worry about your reader and their proficiency; I want you to be able to concentrate on the task at hand, and performing at your best. Let me take care of the reading and you can be free to look after the rest.
Richard trained as an Actor under full scholarship at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. He later went on to train as an Acting Coach at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
A versatile, character actor originally from Newcastle upon Tyne now based in London with good vocal and movement skills, with both Geordie and RP as native accents.
He began his career in Weekly Rep and has worked predominantly in Theatre, always taking work with a strong emphasis in 'the ensemble', working on various repertory models throughout the UK. His initial work had a heavy emphasis on 'heightened text' and 'classical theatre', all with a strong physical aesthetic. Gradually, his work re-focussed on devised theatre and new writing.
He was a founding member of The Faction Theatre Company, and was, for many years, a member of their core ensemble. With The Faction, an Off West End Award was picked up for Best Ensemble for their 2012 Repertory Season, along with a Peter Brook Empty Space Award/Equity Ensemble Award for The Robbers (in association with NDT). Richard has a longstanding creative relationship and association with New Diorama Theatre.
Richard's work as an Actor and Theatre-Maker has taken him throughout the UK, to Malaysia and the Middle East, and, most recently, to Off-Broadway, NYC, for a run of Secret Life Of Humans - for which he was part of the original devising company.
