Jon Lonoff is a New York character guy. Best for sitcoms and NY police procedurals but classically trained (I have done Miller, Chekhov, Shakespeare and Shaw) and a first tenor with a triple time-step. I've been doing this for a long, long time.

This year I've appeared in major roles in six independent films, most recently "On a String" with Isabel Hagen, Eric Bogosian and Dylan Baker. On stage this year, I appeared with Andre De Shields and Bradley Dean in a series of cabaret concerts of Jim Steinman and Barry Keating's "Rhinegold," co-starred with John Hillner in a new musical, "My Father's Play" and received excellent reviews at the Chain Theatre as a lead in the premiere of a new play "Hidden". Other recent performances in New York include Shakespeare's rarely performed "Two Noble Kinsman," "The Cherry Orchard," and well-received appearances in "The Poor of New York" and "State of the Union" at The Metropolitan Playhouse.
I joined Equity in an Off-Broadway show, "Wonderful Lives," while I was still in school. (I have an MFA from Tisch School of the Arts.) Soon after graduation, I appeared in touring companies of "They're Playing Our Song," "Fiddler on the Roof" and "The Lord Loves Music" and in a variety of regional and stock productions.
Then, during a long-run as an IT specialist at financial services organizations, I wrote Skin Deep a romantic comedy published by Concord Theatricals and produced all over the world - I wrote short comedy films, screenplays for industrials, patter for club acts. And I kept performing in countless workshops, showcases and concert readings in NYC - plus the occasional appearance on NY-based TV shows such as "The Sopranos". During this period I was active with an independent theater company, The Workshop Theater, and I served on the board of the Theatre World Awards.
I returned to performing full-time in 2019, when I signed on for the Off-Broadway "Fringe Deaths" at St. Luke's Theatre.
