Emily Stranges

Emily Stranges is a multi-hyphenate award-winning artist based in Toronto, Canada.

As an actor, Emily has been honing her craft and working professionally since age ten. Her on-camera resume has over thirty on-screen credits, including CBC’s Pretty Hard Cases, Murdoch Mysteries, Hallmark’s The Dog Lover’s Guide to Dating, National Geographic’s The Hot Zone: Anthrax and more. Emily is a proud, full ACTRA member in good standing and actively works with her union in solidarity to raise awareness for performer rights and protections.

As a voice performer, Emily has worked on long-format narrative voice projects, story-based video games, podcasts, commercials and animated series. She brings sass, charm and charisma to the voice of Athena Monde on Spinmaster’s hit animated series Bakugan: Battle Planet, Bakugan Evolutions and Bakugan Legends.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) where she graduated with distinction. During her academic career, Emily was the recipient of the Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award for her outstanding work in film production. She was also one of twelve students mentored by Canadian film auteur, Atom Egoyan.

Emily created the short film Sorry For Your Loss through ACTRA Toronto’s New Mentorship Program. It was produced by Mariah Owen at GTE Productions, written and directed by Julia Rowland and stars Emily and Shannon Kook. The film screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner, Toronto Short Film Festival, Reel World and more.

Emily’s docu-moment, An Art Ting, showcases the transcendental photo development process from concept to final upload using a hypnotically surreal soundscape. An Art Ting was awarded the Award of Merit by the Canadian Cinema Editors Association in 2018 for Emily’s work as an editor.

Her first directorial short is titled Retrograde and follows a high school art prodigy as he navigates a night of celebration and battles his ongoing addiction. It stars Spencer MacPherson, Catherine Tait and Aviva Mongillo. Retrograde was co-produced by Emilia McCarthy and Lauren Saarimaki. It screened at the Toronto Youth Shorts and Gen Zed Film Festival.

As a filmmaker, Emily’s work explores characters through the lens of grief, loss, mental health and friendships. Emily is currently developing her short-to-feature titled Al’s Last Birthday with Liesl Lafferty and Firecracker Department.
