Tamara Anderson

Tamara Anderson is a multi-talented singer, actor, writer, and director. Her production and direction credits include a film short, Dating Chronicles.

She just completed a Nunsense summer at Gateway Playhouse, which was followed by a production at Portland Stage and Maine Street Music Theatre with Dan Goggins.

Tamara was in Ghost the Musical at Media Theatre (Oda Mae Brown- Critics Choice Award Nominee for Best Supporting Actress. She can be seen as Marian Stamps on The Blacklist on NBC, Deborah (Seasons 1 and 2) in the Netflix Original series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , on HBO in Show me a Hero, on Starz in Sweetbitter, and Showtime on Nurse Jackie!

She has been featured in Don't Bother Me I can't Cope, Ain’t Misbehavin, Winter's Tale, Yellowman and Violet, as well as numerous plays in various regional theaters across the country. Recent credits include Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray (2012 Best Supporting Actress- Zoren Award) and Hetaira in Lysistrata Jones.

Film projects include Barbershop 2, The Nail: The Joey Nardone Story, The Happening and Kevin's Room

She was also a part of Bailiwick Director’s Festival in Chicago where she directed her ten-minute play entitled Girls Nite Out. In addition, she has directed For Colored Girls who’ve considered suicide when the rainbow isn’t enuf and The Colored Museum in a partnership between the Goodman Theater and the Art Institute.

Her one-person show Soul of a Chanteuse has been called a collage of poetry and soul music, and has been featured at such venues as the Duplex, Perks and the Cutting Room in NYC. Her book, Soul of a Chanteuse is available in Amazon. It is a collection of poems and stories.
