Sean Carey

Hi all,
Seán Carey here, I'm an Irish actor based in London. I've worked professionally as an actor for over ten years, most recently playing the lead role of Sam Monaghan in the West End production of 'The Comedy About A Bank Robbery.' Before then I starred in the West End production of the Olivier/Tony award winning play, 'The Play That Goes Wrong,' where I understudied and played five roles.
My three years with Mischief Theatre imbued me with a love for the science behind what makes comedy work. Having worked with five different directors within the company, I have developed a keen eye for comedy. Through a series of specifically targeted games and exercises focusing on truth, generosity and teamwork, I can help maximise your comedy performance.
I have a degree in History and the Irish language from the National University of Ireland. I'm an avid reader and have no problems whatsoever with cold reads of any kind.
I have a special love for all things Shakespeare, and am currently devising my own 6 week intensive course on the writing techniques Shakespeare uses to help actors perform his work. Throughout lockdown I have worked with numerous drama school graduates from various colleges over Zoom who felt intimidated by classical texts. By channelling the work of experts such as John Barton, Peter Hall and Giles Block, I can demystify and democratise Shakespeare by helping actors use the clues he provides in his text to make their own imaginative and above all ORIGINAL creative choices.

Feel free to drop me a line :) x
