I'm a trained actor, comedienne & screenwriter from England but I also grew up in South Africa and went to school with American kids: so I'm confused but vocally pretty versatile! Actually, I'm a bit of an accent buff and have played characters from all over the UK/USA and the rest of the world - so I can almost certainly rehearse with you in whatever accent the script requires and help with accent work if you need that too.
I have 30 years experience as a leading actor in TV, theatre, film, radio & voice overs and I have a passion (and some skill) for comedy, though I have done just as much drama.
I've taught and coached actors for TV/ film & theatre at London drama schools RADA, East 15 & lectured at London University (BA screenwriting) and I love being able to help people grasp a concept or find something new. So very happy to offer feedbackIF you would like any, or just shut up and read with you! It's all about what YOU need to feel really prepared.
I live in Los Anges AND London, so do check my time zone as I move between the 2 quite a bit, though I'm often very late, so possibly available to read/rehearse either way!
My work:
I'm probably best known in the UK for my series regular role in prime-time series Coronation Street (though it was an awfully long time ago now) and also played Fergie in NBC’s royal movie Fergie and Andrew a few years after though I'm never quite sure whether to mention it!
I have dozens of credits for UK TV (including The Bill, Holby City, Eastenders); for short films and features and lots of top regional and West End theatre. I've also had the pleasure of being in multiple plays written and directed by Sir Alan Ayckbourn. I have also produced/written and performed in 2 sell-out/5 star comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival and London’s Soho Theatre.
In the US, I've been in the series Touch with Keifer Sutherland, in Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut feature People Like Us as well as several indie movies, voice over work, two LA comedy festivals with my own all-female sketch show, Live!Sex!Girls! and stand-up at the Comedy Store and Improv.
I went on to make the web series of Live!Sex!Girls! which was picked up by Babelgum in Europe & StaytunedTV in the US and, just recently, Random in the UK.
I've had the good fortune to have worked and learned from some greats:
Michael Palin, in his acclaimed BBC film East of Ipswich; starred with Joan Plowright and Jane Horrocks in films The Dressmaker and And A Nightingale Sang; Sir Peter Ustinov in Warner Bros. Dead Man’s Folly.
I've won some gongs for writing and acting and have my own mini production company dedicated to making 'female-fuelled' comedy and drama. You can see or read more about my acting (and writing) work at:
