Nessa Amherst
Are you looking for someone to help you with lines? Have someone to interact within the audition room? Develop the right amount of emotion and character for your next self-tape? Well, look no further!
I am well versed in theatre, web series, films, staged readings, and virtual play readings. I am up for any adventure or role you want me to be to help you out, even if it's something I've never done before! It's been fruitful and blessed in the four years in the craft, or even longer if you count high school and college.
As an actor myself, I believe that learning about yourself and your capabilities are very important to your growth as a performer and an individual. So is being helpful, a good listener, and kind. I would love to help you out in any way I can, and all I hope to help you land that role you dream about.
Let me know what I can do to help, and I will do my best to accommodate your needs. We're all in this together, and we should be lifting each other up, not tearing one another down.
Break a leg!
Originally from Chicago, I have been acting in the DC/MD/VA area since 2016. My most recent and previous roles are loyal, ambitious, compassionate, helpful, vulnerable, strong, warm, and intelligent.
Please think of me as a people-person character: the best friend always there for a shoulder to cry on, the therapist listening to and understanding your problems, the artist/photographer/fashion designer/retail associate/florist/bookseller ready to help you find the following great product or create a masterpiece, a wanderer who is strong on the exterior but vulnerable when she has to be, and even an owner of a small business who wants to help her community or even a career-driven individual who won't let anything stand in her way.
Some of my roles include:
*Grandmother, The Survival (National Queer Theater & Lincoln Center)
*Celia, As You Like It (Theatre Lab School of Dramatic Arts)
*Decius Brutus, Julia Caesar (Barefoot Shakespeare Company)
*Marigold, A Murder in the Court of Xanadu (A Theater in the Dark)
*Jules, Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (Voices Festival Productions)
*Engineer, The Wednesday Train (Organic Theatre)
*Mamie, Lotto & Raffles & Sweepstakes, Oh My! (PlayZoomers)
*Benjamin, District Merchants (Globe Openstage & Theatre CBT)
My resume is available upon request to look at more details of my roles and performances.
