I made my first stage appearance in Oliver! on the Sunderland empire, aged 13, as a young Charlie Bates and the understudy to Dodger.
I knew from a very young age I wanted to be an actor, but growing up in the North East there is very little access to advice and development opportunities for Actors as they grow out of their teenage years.
I studied History at the University of Edinburgh, with the intention of taking a conversion course and going in to law. However, After performing in a few short plays at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and working for a stint as a script editor and Historical Adviser on a production in Melbourne, I was hooked, and the decision to move to London and give acting a go had formed.
I moved to the capital in 2015 and trained part time in workshops under the instruction of stars such as Natalie Dormer, Ed Skrien, Robert Sheehan and Neil Maskell.
Frequently returning to the North East for castings and finding myself more on the production end of regional projects, I decided to return to the North East to create my own home grown creative network.
The Actors Forge was created in 2018, designed to champion North East artists and give them access to the advice and community I wish I’d had early in my career.
