Eleanor Bennett

Hello! My name is Ella and I am a commercial, film, and theater actress based in NYC with over 4 years in the business. I studied Theater and Performance at Bard College and studied abroad with Fordham University in London as well as the British American Drama Academy at their Midsummer in Oxford Program. My senior year at Bard, I was awarded a scholarship in Drama Performance named in honor of Jonathon Weiss ‘89 for showing “promise for a career in acting, directing, set design or similar fields.” Last year, I joined The Actor's Project NYC to work specifically on audition technique, self-tapes, and comedy.

My specialties include contemporary works, comedy, horror, and Shakespeare. I'm available for reading, and due to my work experience and training, can also provide notes and coaching. As an actor myself, I know what suggestions work best for us, and I absolutely love helping other actors!

Last year, I joined The Actor’s Project NYC, a training group that helps actors prepare for securing representation while also rehearsing comedy showcases throughout the year. Under their leadership, I reconnected with my love of comedy. I subsequently performed in a comedy sketch show in New York City and then booked my first local commercial in New Jersey. Since then, I have been thinking more seriously about the trajectory of my career and expanding my repertoire to include more work in both comedy and the film and television industries. I like to think of myself as not only an actor with both a serious love of craft, but also as a person with a goofy side. It is important to me to prepare every role I’ve had with the diligence of an academic and then perform it with professionalism; and yet, I love to inject my sense of humor into every character and set.
Some of my favorite roles have been Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a pill-popping paramedic in a horror short Hypertrophy that premiered at the FearNYC Festival in Brooklyn in 2019, and a goth wizard with a secret heart-of-gold in Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic with Bridge Players Theatre Company.

My most recent film projects include a horror short where I played a cynical, sarcastic friend in a group of twenty-somethings who are haunted when they perform a cursed ancient dance on a dare. My character must come to terms with the part she played in the death of her best friend. I also recently filmed a college thesis film, in which my character struggles to make a new friend and relies on her inner “Angel” and “Devil” for advice until she realizes that decisions are meant to be complicated and not black-and-white.

Also, I’m the proud dog-mom to a Jack Russell Terrier called Kensington (which was the neighborhood I lived in while in London with Fordham). While not working, reading, singing, working on my new podcast, or doing yoga, I’m usually drinking a nice cuppa with her by my side.
