Charles Leonus is a film and screen actor in New York City with dramatic roles such as “The Keeper” in Cabinet- The People’s Show (director Jeru Berry/Hyyer Productions,) and “Professor Charles” in Pin the Tail on the Dead Person (director Mark Stolzenberg/Circle of Life Films,) both in production. Charles has also appeared in the new media comedy series YouTube Comment Theater as “Shervin Tay” in How to Pick Up Girls (The Easy Way,) and as an undercover cop in N.W.A.-F**K THA POLICE (director Dan Bricker.) Beyond acting, Charles was also a dancer in both Todd Alsup music videos Easy To Love You and That’s What Your Love Does (Tee-Bop Music.) He was even accosted off the street while vacationing in Berlin Germany for a Sony Ericsson smartphone commercial as a feature reviewer. He assumes getting acting gigs in Berlin like this is the exception and not the rule but is taking headshots with him next time…just in case.
Moving to New York in 2007, he has worked in supporting non-profit organizations with computer technology. Along the way, the acting bug bit him and never let go. He received acting training with Mark Stolzenberg of the New York Acting School for Film and Television; James Ciccone of Actors Axiom: Step Up for the Role; and with Barry Shapiro, owner and president of Herman & Lipson Casting, in advanced voiceovers.
Charles was born in Savannah, GA, to Charlie, a store manager, and Bernett, a homemaker. He is the oldest of four siblings. Raised in the Deep South, he gained all the courteousness, gentility, charm, and ever present suspicion one would expect from a Southern native. Moving to New York City cured him of all these traits (except for maybe the suspicion part.)
Having a strong interest in science (B.S. in Computer Science,) science fiction and fantasy, he seeks roles inspiring audiences to envision a more optimistic and inclusive future. Other interests include dogs, biking, and bass guitar.
